Plant Restoration Assignment
Through this assignment, you will (a) identify native and non-native plants in the Elwha Valley, (b) help monitor transects in the Elwha Basins, (c) assist in revegetation nursery work.

Part 1. Plant Identification Hike (in field):
Hike with Joshua Chenoweth, Olympic National Park Plant Restoration Specialist, from the end of Whiskey Bend Road to Humes Ranch, all the while identifying individual plant species and plant communities.
In your journal, keep a species list of all plants identified (include common name, habitat, and a sketch or note to help you remember the plant).
Part 2. Vegetation Transects (in field):
Work with Tom Butler to collect data for vegetation transects in the Aldwell and Mills Basins.
Final data will be posted inHands on the Land's Plant Recolonization database.
Part 3: Native Plant Nursery (in field):
Work with Jill Zarzeczny, Olympic National Park Native Plant Nursery Specialist, to complete required native plant propogation tasks.
In your journal, please continue your species list of all plants identified (include common name, habitat, and a sketch or note to help you remember the plant).
